A Vision for the Future:  The USF Athletics District

The proposed Athletics District

This is a conceptual rendering of a proposed "Athletics District" to be located on the southeast quadrant of the university's Tampa campus.  This plan, to be funded through a combination of philanthropy and public/private partnerships, is expected to be realized over a 7-10 year period.  It includes nine new and renovated competition and practice facilities.   The first of those facilities, the 104,000 square foot Athletics Training Center, was completed in May 2003.
 
Planned New and Renovated Facilities

Athletic Training Center (Completed 2003)

104,000 sq. ft. center housing locker  & meeting rooms, sports medicine clinic, athletics offices, strength & conditioning, and academic center.
 

Baseball Stadium Renovation

Major renovation  including new 2000-seat (expandable) stadium, covered seating, concession areas, press box, clubhouse, TV/Radio booths, hospitality areas, and more.

Softball Stadium

New stadium seating 800-1000, including press box, clubhouse, hospitality suite, covered seating, TV/Radio booths, concessions, and an officials' locker room.

Football Practice Complex
A complex of three full-size grass football practice fields, and one full-size football field with artificial surface.

Sun Dome Renovation

Enclosed lower bowl, new seats and seating platforms, new scoreboards, renovated hospitality and concessions areas, southern expansion.
 

Basketball Center

A north-side expansion to the Dome, will house offices, training areas, practice courts, locker rooms, and other basketball training facilities.

Soccer Stadium & Practice Field
New stadium seating 3000 with berm seating for another 1500; locker rooms, offices, concession & hospitality areas; press box, TV/Radio booths.
 


Tennis Center
New tennis center with 12 hard-surface courts, covered grandstands, concession & hospitality areas, scoreboards, and a clubhouse.


Track Complex
Renovated track stadium with covered seating, press box with TV/Radio booths, hospitality and concession areas.  Second multi-purpose track facility with artificial surface infield;  used by track, football and soccer and recreation programs.
